Breastfeeding

$103.56

Breastfeeding is the feeding of an infant or young child with breast milk directly from human breasts rather than from a baby bottle or other container. Babies have a sucking reflex that enables them to suck and swallow milk. Most mothers can breastfeed for six months or more, without the addition of infant formula or solid food.Human breast milk is the healthiest form of milk for human babies. There are few exceptions, such as when the mother is taking certain drugs or is infected with tuberculosis or HIV. Breastfeeding promotes health, helps to prevent disease and reduces health care and feeding costs. In both developing and developed countries, artificial feeding is associated with more deaths from diarrhea in infants. Benzac AC Puts All Acne Worries to Rest

About Generic Benzac AC (Benzoyl Peroxide Topical)

Benzac AC is an anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial agent that is used as a topical treatment for mild to moderate acne. It dries off pimples and aids in peeling away the skin, at a much faster rate than other acne treatments. Benzac AC or benzoyl peroxide is specifically meant for external and topical treatment. It is available in several forms and most of these are available over-the-counter even without a doctor’s prescription. Yet, it is always best to consult a doctor before starting a Benzac AC acne treatment as each individual case is different and its suitability is not universal. Before you rush to buy Benzac AC, let us take a deeper look at the medicine and its uses.

General Information Regarding Benzac AC
Benzac AC is mainly used on acne pimples, blackheads and whiteheads. The benzoyl peroxide contained in it kills acne causing bacteria and effectively stops acne growth. Benzac AC also maintains the skin’s oil balance by absorbing oily secretions and drying them up. The glycerol contained in Benzac AC keeps the skin soft and free of irritation and itches. Apart from these, Benzac AC has several other uses and your doctor may ask you to order benzoyl peroxide for any of them.

The following instructions should be taken into account when using Benzac AC.
•    Make sure that your hands are clean and dry before you apply Benzac AC on the affected areas.

•    The dosage of Benzac AC differs according to the actual problem and its severity and hence a doctor’s advice should be followed. This ensures the best results in term of improvement of the condition.

•    Benzac AC ingredients are active allergens that require an allergy test before active usage. If the patient shows no allergy-like symptoms within three days of first application, Benzac AC is considered safe for use.

•    Benzac AC has a bleach-like effect on hair and clothes due to the benzoyl peroxide contained in it. It should hence be kept away from them.

•    One should consult a doctor for interactive problems before using liquid soaps, cleansers and toners while following a course of Benzac AC treatment.

Though it is a great acne cure, Benzac AC has some side effects. Extreme dryness, excessive peeling, increased skin sensitivity, skin irritations, rashes, etc. are all common Benzac AC side effects. Other than these, there can be several other side effects that may be unique to you. Almost all side effects are minor irritants and if the severity is high or they display increased frequency, you should consult a doctor immediately. In extreme cases, the patient may require immediate medical intervention.

Though there is no specific list, Benzac AC may interact with several things. So, if you are using any other topical applications or skin related medications, you should inform your doctor and take his advice. Interactional problems can be avoided by spacing out two different applications.

Benzac AC overdoses are serious, just like internal consumption. The patient may be required to be admitted to an emergency room. In case of overdoses, call your local poison control center for immediate assistance. With missed doses, just ask your doctor how to make up for them.

Benzac AC tubes should not be shared between different users. Also, Benzac AC dosages should not be self-determined. The dosage of this medicine depends on several factors like body weight, other medical conditions, etc. and hence only a doctor can advise properly on it.

Generic Benzac AC Warnings and Precautions

The following warnings and precautions should be kept in mind while starting a Benzac AC treatment.

•    Disclose your medical and allergic history in its entirety to your doctor before you accept a Benzac AC prescription from him.

•    Caffeine, nicotine, drugs and alcohol, all affect the potency of Benzac AC and should not be consumed while on its treatment.

•    While it is not known whether Benzac AC passes into breast milk, you should consult your doctor regarding its safe use while you are breastfeeding.

•    The dosage of Benzac AC also depends on the color of skin. Patients with darker skin may require a higher dosage than those with fairer skin and improper usage may leave scars.

•    Benzac AC should not be disposed of in an improper manner. Proper disposal methods can be discussed with your doctor or pharmacist.

Sources of Benzac AC
Benzac AC has several forms, like lotions, medicinal gels, etc. and you can buy any of them off the shelves of local stores. A prescription is not mandatory for buying Benzac AC and you can buy forms of Benzac AC from almost any physical or online source.

About the Author

You can buy generic Benzac AC medicinal tubes or any other Benzac AC lotions and gels from local stores. If you do not wish to waste time on the physical purchase, you could order generic benzoyl peroxide from online pharmacy that offer doorstep deliveries.

Women from all over the world have contributed to Playing with Matches, answering the call for tragic dating tales in all their nasty and delicious detail. And as a survivor of countless terrible evenings, Cameron is an expert. She’s dated an overweight manic eater who picked fights and an anaesthesiologist twenty years her senior who really did put her to sleep. Each new bad date made her swear off men forever. Until, of course, another hopeful possibility presented himself.Bad dates happen. Every night, another woman returns home reeling from a missed match. But each evening spent with Mr. Wrong teaches us something about our own love limits. Can I cuddle with a man who blows his nose in a cloth napkin? Do I like to spank my lover? Do I have something in common with the director of a funeral home? Does a pierced nipple bother me? How about a pierced scrotum? We need to embrace our misadventures, share the pain, and find the humour. Playing with Matches will remind us all that no matter how awful a date was, there is always someone else with a worse story.Four of us — the single women at the baby shower — are hunched in a corner drinking bloody Marys and ignoring a chorus of cooing over a Winnie the Pooh breastfeeding pillow. “All night long he talked to me through the bloody cat,” Julie complains. “‘Does Mummy like to snuggle? Isn’t Mummy funny?’” I snort my drink all over her winter white skirt. She brushes it off without thinking and continues, “I bought leather knee-high boots for this guy? ”. . .Everyone knows

Breastfeeding clothes for the nursing mother

Breast milk is the best and most complete nutrition that you can give to your baby. One principal of successful breastfeeding is that both the mother and the baby are comfortable and relaxed during the process. This is the time of forming special emotional bonds and providing unique maternal care. Obviously you do not want to be bothered by cumbersome clothes while nursing. There is also no reason, why you should have to wear dowdy and shapeless clothes when you are a new mother. Here are some tips to arrange for the most suitable garments while you are breastfeeding.

• The most important item of clothing in the wardrobe of a nursing mother is the breastfeeding bra, also known as the maternity bra or the nursing bra. They may be of different styles and include different features. The common feature is that they have detachable cups which can be removed to allow your baby easy access to the breast. When your baby is hungry and cranky, you do not want to have to deal with a cumbersome bra which cannot be removed easily. Remember babies are notoriously impatient. So ease and speed of accessibility are important considerations.

• There are several types of breastfeeding tops and T shirts available in the market. Most of them have a double layer over the chest area. The upper layer can be lifted to allow your baby the access to the breast. This extra fabric can then be draped over the baby. This is discrete and functional. They sometimes have support systems built in them so that you can nurse your baby comfortably.

• It is better to choose breastfeeding garments which do not have buttons, hooks, zips or other fastenings. It will be difficult for you to handle the fastenings as well as a fussy and hungry baby.

• Several trendy and fashionable nursing garments have become available in the market. But try to choose those which allow you to breastfeed anywhere. Cross over tops for example has gained a lot of popularity, but they expose a part of the breast while feeding your baby. So if you are wearing such clothes, you are going to need privacy to nurse your child. If you are not sure of getting that privacy, you should opt for more discrete clothing. Remember, it is necessary to be relaxed during breastfeeding and to enjoy this time.

• You can use a shawl or a poncho or a blanket to cover your baby during breastfeeding. But this will become impossible as your baby grows and becomes more and more active.

• Apart from the garments you will need some other accessories. Always have absorbent pads ready in case of leakage. Nursing pillow and nursing stool helps you to be comfort table during breastfeeding. As babies like to play with the mother’s hair and clothes during feeding, you can opt for a breastfeeding necklace. It keeps the baby happily occupied. If you are traveling, you can use a nursing sling. It will keep your hands free as your baby feeds.

• It is better that your nursing clothes are made of soft cotton which can be easily washed and tried. Choose dark colors as they help to conceal leakages better.

Whichever clothes you choose, do remember to stock them up before delivery. You will be starting to breastfeed within a few hours after the birth of your child and will be too busy to go shopping.

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Breastfeeding is the feeding of breastmilk to a child directly from mouth to breast contact. Various substitutes for breast milk have been introduced around the world, most notably infant formula. In the Egyptian, Greek and Roman empires, women usually fed only their own children. However, breastfeeding began to be seen as something too common to be done by royalty, and wet nurses were employed to breastfeed the children of the royal families. This was extended over the ages, particularly in western Europe, where noble women often made use of wet nurses. The Moche artisans of Peru (1800 A.D.) represented women breastfeeding their children in ceramic vessels. Shared breastfeeding is still practised in many developing countries when mothers need help in feeding their children. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. Breastfeeding and Catholic Motherhood

Breastfeeding and Catholic Motherhood

$10.95

Why breastfeeding is good for you and good for your baby, now and forever! God has a plan for you and your baby, and it starts with breastfeeding. He wants you to use the gifts He gave you — physical and spiritual — to help your baby thrive and mold you into a loving Catholic mother. That’s why the Church has long promoted breastfeeding. Today, many mothers know that the medical evidence in favor of breastfeeding is overwhelming: your milk nourishes your baby and boosts his immunity; your warm, reassuring maternal embrace fosters his early mental and emotional development. But the spiritual reasons for breastfeeding are just as strong. Citing priests and popes, author Sheila Kippley here shows that nursing is not only the best way to ensure your baby’s health and proper psychological development; it’s an integral part of your vocation as a Catholic mother. Nursing your baby is an act of Christian charity. Indeed, Pope John Paul II says that nursing mothers are “truly heroic.” Their selflessness is a boon to the family, the Church, and society. Breastfeeding creates the intimate bonds of love and trust on which all Christian communion is based. It awakens tenderness in you and a sense of wonder at creation, especially at the marvel you cradle in your arms, your tiny baby. These pages show that breastfeeding is the best care you can give your baby, and it’s also good for you as a Catholic woman. Nursing will deepen your love and develop in you habits of meditation and prayer. Let Sheila Kippley help you take the next step toward breastfeeding. Soon, as you gaze on the baby nursing in your arms, you’ll find praise of God welling up in your soul, and thanksgiving for His wonderful works and for the marvelous gifts He has given you.

Mothering with Breastfeeding and Maternal Care

Mothering with Breastfeeding and Maternal Care

$36.56

As women continue to bear children, all parents should ask the following question: How can a woman fulfill her unique responsibility as mother to her child when prevailing parenting practices deny the importance of breastfeeding and maternal care?Maternal care is now thought to be impractical and a luxury for those who can afford it. Thus, many women need to defend their right and responsibility to care for even the youngest of babies.Dr. Kawasaki, a pediatrician and stayathome mother of two, asserts in Mothering with Breastfeeding and Maternal Care that current attitudes toward mothering have not evolved naturally. Over the course of a century, childrearing experts, sociologists, and feminists have made systematic efforts to undermine the importance of a womans role in the home.Dr. Kawasaki offers compelling reasons for parents to think seriously about the unique role women play in their childrens lives, particularly in early childhood. She argues that the priceless benefits of breastfeeding and handson maternal care help to ensure the optimal growth and development of young babies and children. Boundaries of Touch

Boundaries of Touch

$114.39

A history of the shifting and conflicting ideas about when, where, and how we should touch our children Discussing issues of parent-child contact ranging from breastfeeding to sexual abuse, Jean O’Malley Halley traces the evolution of mainstream ideas about touching between adults and children over the course of the twentieth century in the United States. Debates over when a child should be weaned and whether to allow a child to sleep in the parent’s bed reveal deep differences in conceptions of appropriate adult-child contact. Boundaries of Touch shows how arguments about adult-child touch have been politicized, simplified, and bifurcated into naturalist and behaviorist viewpoints, thereby sharpening certain binary constructions such as mind/body and male/female. Halley discusses the gendering of ideas about touch that were advanced by influential social scientists and parenting experts including Benjamin Spock, Alfred C. Kinsey, and Luther Emmett Holt. She also explores how touch ideology fared within and against the post-World War II feminist movements, especially with respect to issues of breastfeeding and sleeping with a child versus using a crib. In addition to contemporary periodicals and self-help books on child rearing, Halley uses information gathered from interviews she conducted with mothers ranging in age from twenty-eight to seventy-three. Throughout, she reveals how the parent-child relationship, far from being a private or benign subject, continues as a highly contested, politicized affair of keen public interest.

Breastfeeding: Tips to Help You and Your Baby

Breastfeeding has always been recommended as the best nutrition for babies. It has everything that a baby needs and all mothers have the ability to produce it. But as good its benefits are, it isn’t as easy to do. Breastfeeding your baby may seem like a full time job and since it starts out as a huge adjustment for both you and your baby, it may become very difficult for you along the way. Breastfeeding tips that help you through this period is essential and beneficial for you and your baby.

Breastfeeding is the best nutrition for babies because it has all the nutrients that a baby needs, plus the mother’s antibodies to help fight off disease. Also, breastfeeding helps relieve pain from engorged breasts after birth and provides mother and child with quality bonding time.

These breastfeeding tips should give you the best breastfeeding help that you need:

  • Start Breastfeeding ASAP
One of the most emphasized breastfeeding tips is to start breastfeeding your baby ASAP, preferably within 24 hours after giving birth. If you’re concerned that you haven’t produced adequate milk yet or that your breasts feel swollen and tender, the only thing that would help is to start breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is the only major way to initiate milk production and relieve breast engorgement and pain. So generally, the best breastfeeding help you can get is from your own baby!
  • Be Patient and Continue Breastfeeding
Possess the most useful attitude all throughout the breastfeeding period–patience. The first weeks of breastfeeding will be difficult. Your baby, used to being fed 24 hours before birth, may need to be fed frequently for the first few weeks. The breastfeeding tip? Be patient and ready to feed your baby around the clock. Soon, you and your baby will adjust to a feeding schedule that works for both of you.
  • Don’t Stop Breastfeeding
The most difficult breastfeeding tip is probably this, because time will come when you feel like stopping and switching to bottle-feeding instead. You may want to return to work or your baby doesn’t like to breastfeed anymore. Continue to breastfeed even when you’re working by learning how to express your milk. Sometimes, your baby stops breastfeeding when it notices something different about you or your milk, i.e. a different smell. Pinpoint and revert these changes so your baby will go back to breastfeeding.
  • Avoid Changing Habits
Anything you eat or do may affect your breast milk. So, smoking or drinking can affect the contents of your breast milk and your baby will notice it. So, another breastfeeding tip to take seriously is to avoid eating or doing something that you don’t want to pass on to your baby because either your baby will get ill or will refuse to breastfeed.
  • Express and Store Your Milk When You Won’t Be Around to Breastfeed
The best breastfeeding tip when you won’t be around is to express your milk into a clean container and freeze it. Label it with the date and time you stored it. Breast milk can be stored in the refrigerator for 48 hours and up to 3 months in a freezer with a separate door. When de-frosting, put it in the refrigerator for several hours or under cool running water. Never leave breast milk to thaw in room temperature and never refreeze it again. Never use your microwave to warm breast milk and throw out any remaining milk that your baby doesn’t drink.
  • Never Use a Rubber Nipple to Feed Expressed Breast Milk
When feeding expressed breast milk to your baby, use a spoon or a cup and never a rubber nipple. There’s a huge difference between the nipple and a rubber nipple that your baby will get used to if you expose him/her to it. A spoon or a cup will not satisfy the baby’s need to suck, so your baby will eagerly go back to breastfeeding when you’re available. Do the same when your baby refuses to breastfeed (which happens when your baby is sick or has sensed some changes) so your baby will go back to normal breastfeeding when s/he is ready.
  • Seek Instructions from Health Professionals
Most mothers will benefit greatly from the breastfeeding help they can get from health professionals, such as a doctor, public health nurse, or breastfeeding counselor. They will teach you the correct way of breastfeeding, more breastfeeding tips and other important details that you need to know.

Your breast milk alone can give your baby 100% nourishment. With the breastfeeding help that we’ve given you through the above breastfeeding tips, plus a little patience and consistency, you can ensure 100% good nutrition for your baby.

Inspire families to have safe and happy wilderness adventures! • Addresses the ongoing “last child in the woods” concern • Offers a fresh, modern approach to hiking and camping with kids • Makes parenting a celebration of the outdoors and a sharing of traditions There’s a lot of information out there about introducing school-age kids to the outdoors, but what about babies and toddlers? Author Jennifer Aist bridges that gap and shares her tried and tested advice for active new parents. Babes in the Woods introduces outdoorsy moms and dads to the joy and vigor of taking babies and toddlers into the woods at a very early age. Well-organized chapters offer functional solutions for appropriate gear, clothing, and food, nature games to play, and tips on potty breaks and sleeping outdoors—but most importantly, Aist explores all the reasons why introducing even the youngest of children to wilderness experiences is healthy, rewarding, and fun. Excerpt: The Nestlé boycott is a boycott launched on July 4, 1977, in the United States against the Swiss based Nestlé corporation. It spread quickly throughout the United States, and expanded into Europe in the early 1980s. It was prompted by concern about the company’s marketing of breast milk substitutes (infant formula), particularly in less economically developed countries (LEDCs), which campaigners claim contributes to the unnecessary death and suffering of babies, largely among the poor. Among the campaigners, Professor Derek Jelliffe and his wife Patrice, who had contributed to establish the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA), were particularly instrumental in helping to coordinate the boycott and giving it ample visibility throughout the world. Groups such as the International Baby Food Action Network (IBFAN), and Save the Children claim that the promotion of infant formula over breast-feeding has led to health problems and deaths among infants in less economically developed countries. There are four problems that can arise when poor mothers in developing countries switch to formula: Advocacy groups and charities have accused Nestlé of unethical methods of promoting infant formula over breast-milk to poor mothers in developing countries. For example, IBFAN claim that Nestlé supports the distribution of free powdered formula samples to hospitals and maternity wards; after leaving the hospital, the formula is no longer free, but because the supplementation has interfered with lactation the family must continue to buy the formula. IBFAN also allege that Nestlé uses “humanitarian aid” to create markets, does not label its products in a language appropriate to the country where they are sold, and offers gifts and sponsorship to

Devouring anxiety: Victorian breastfeeding and the modern individual.

$49.99

This study investigates the epistemologically interdependent constructions of the breastfeeding mother and the modern individual in Victorian fiction, periodical writing, and advertising. Analyzing Charles Dickens’s David Copperfield (1850), George Eliot’s Adam Bede (1859), Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1897), Ada S. Ballin’s Baby Magazine (1887-1915) and several advertisements for infant food (1892-1900), the study argues that Victorian discourse constructs the modern individual in terms of psychological and aesthetic differentiation that grant an individual both autonomy and the capability for symbolization. This construction of modernity depends upon an attendant construction of the past as primitive and undifferentiated. As it appears in the works under consideration, the notion of the breastfeeding mother embodies the primitive past from which modernity departs. Thus, the idea of breastfeeding becomes synonymous with the idea of nature while the idea of modernity becomes synonymous with that of artifice as Victorian fiction opposes the autonomous modern individual to the undifferentiated and undifferentiating nursing dyad of breastfeeding mother and nursling child. In the anthropologically informed milieu of the late nineteenth century, the relationship between maternity and autonomy becomes rhetorically vital to the self-definition of Victorian England while the infant feeding that emblematizes that relationship becomes a stage on which modernity is performed via displays of differentiation. By examining the breastfeeding mother in conjunction with the modern individual, this study uncovers the discursive means through which breastfeeding has been constructed as natural. It concludes that infant feeding serves for Victorian culture as a controlling metaphor around which that culture conceptualizes its own status as primitive or modern, progressive or degenerate, autonomous or lacking individuality.

Early Nutrition and Its Later Consequences: New Opportunities: Perinatal Programming of Adult Health - EC Supported Research

Early Nutrition and Its Later Consequences: New Opportunities: Perinatal Programming of Adult Health – EC Supported Research

$189

The possibility that nutrition in early life could influence propensity to adult disease is of great concern to public health. Extensive research carried out in pregnant women, in breastfeeding women and in infants strongly suggests that nutrition in early life has major effects on long-term health and well-being. Health problems such as hypertension, tendency to diabetes, obesity, blood lipids, vascular disease, bone health, behaviour and learning and longevity may be ‘imprinted’ during early life. This process is defined as ‘programming’ whereby a nutritional stimulus operating at a critical, sensitive period of pre and postnatal life imprints permanent effects on the structure, physiology and metabolism. For this reason, academics and industry set-up the EC supported Scientific Workshop -Early Nutrition and its Later Consequences: New Opportunities. The prime objective of the Workshop was to generate a sound exchange of the latest scientific developments within the field of early nutrition to look for opportunities for new preventive health concepts. Further, a closer look was taken at the development of food applications which could provide (future) mothers and infants with improved nutrition that will ultimately lead to better future health. The Workshop was organised by the Dept. of Pediatrics, University of Munich, Germany in collaboration with the Danone Institutes and the Infant Nutrition Cluster, a collaboration of three large research projects funded by the EU.Many of the contributors have important roles to play in a new EC supported integrated project: Early nutrition programming of adult health (EARNEST) which will take place between 2005 and 2010 and will involve more than 40 research centres. Further Workshops on the same theme are planned as part of this project.

Breastfeeding, Baby Led Weaning, & Pureed Food

Breastfeeding : What to Eat When Nursing

Breastfeeding is a privileged time when a mother provides her nursing baby with the ideal food for its growth and development. Breast milk has the best nutritional elements to ensure the baby a healthy and happy growth. Breastfeeding also provides powerful antibodies to the newborn baby and lower its risks of serious infections.

A breastfeeding mother should always think of her needs as well as the needs of her baby. Even in the cases of a nursing mother suffering from deficiencies (such as anemia or calcium deficiency) her breast milk would be adequate and nourishing enough for the baby. The breastfeeding mother should take care of her needs so she can enjoy every moment spent with her new baby and not feel tired and drained by such a beautiful thing as breastfeeding.

The daily requirements of a nursing mother are about the same as for a pregnant mother. A breastfeeding mother should not undertake a diet low in calories as she may she very weak. A balanced eating schedule for a mother is to have three meals per day and two to three healthy snacks in between.

The diet of a breastfeeding mother should be generous in fruits, vegetables and food rich in proteins and fibers. The snacks have to be healthy and easy to carry around.

A nursing mother should also keep herself very well hydrated as her daily liquid needs are going to be important.

Breastfeeding mothers should avoid alcohol as it crosses into breast milk and can be transmitted to the baby. Other stimulants rich in caffeine such as chocolate, black sodas, coffee or tea should be taken in very moderate quantities if any a tall.

A breastfeeding mother also needs to choose quality fats in her diet such as fish and vegetable oils. Fatty acids are essential in the development of the baby’s brain and should be a part of a breastfeeding mother’s diet.

Some food can give breast milk a certain odor or taste that baby might not like. Whenever eating a new food, it is a good rule to take small or moderate quantities of it. If the breastfed baby gets irritable or has gas, the food should be avoided for a certain period and re-introduced in very small amount later in the nursing mother’s diet.

Overall, breastfeeding should be a fun experience and not a time of feeling deprived or restricted. Enjoying a healthy lifestyle by getting sufficient quality food, rest and being ell hydrated will ensure the both nursing mother and baby are happy and well.
